Afternoon Tea | Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Hey There,

Is there anything better than champagne and cake? And by that I mean, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory inspired afternoon tea... I think not!!

This post is about 3 months late, (But lets not go in to that)! Ever since I moved to London back in June, me and my sister have talked about having a girls day out, (Obviously involving lots of food and champers). Being London, we were pretty much spoilt for choice, but we booked the One Aldwych Hotel, having been recommended it, on more than one occasion.

Baring in mind, it was close to Christmas, we arrived to a beautifully decorated hotel, with a stunning frosted Christmas tree in full display. We were taken to our seats, (upstairs), overlooking the tree and the hotel reception, (It was lovely). Opting for Champagne over a cocktail, we literally ate until we could no longer!

The smoked salmon, leek and stilton savoury dishes were my favourite, and after the first load, we ordered a few more, (As always, thinking we could demolish more). Being known for my sweet tooth, I was keen to move on to the sweet selection, (Just look at the picture, it was great). The golden chocolate egg filled with lemon cheesecake, was of course my favourite, followed by the trifle and the scones. You could definitely see the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory inspiration from the chocolate milk, and candy floss, of which I still don't know what flavour it was.

At £37.50 per person, with an extra £10.50 for Champers, or Charlies Cocktail, it was really worth it. The location is ideal, being in walking distance of Waterloo, and Covent Garden, the Hotel is lovely, and the food was great!

I will definitely be going back at one point, although my list of places to go in London is pretty long still....

Lots of love,
