Merumaya | New Skincare Launches

Hey there,

Some of you may or may not have noticed, that my blog has been a little out of action recently, and by that I mean, I've been a bit of a bad blogger. I won't go in to all the details, as I'm quite a private person, but I will just say my excuses are pretty valid, and unfortunately my blog has been put to the side on several occasions this year. I have tried to come back to it, many a times, but with writers block, other shit and my habit of trying to conquer everything at once, it has taken me a while to slot blogging back in to my life. Here's hoping this is the first post of many, just taking one step at a time...

What better way to come back to the beauty blogging world than with a post on one of my absolute favourite skincare brands, right? I've been using Merumaya for about two years now, (roughly), and I still love them as much as I did when I first discovered their cleanser. Recently, I've been lucky enough to be testing out two of their soon to be new product launches, (they literally came straight out the factory and in to my hands).

The first product, launching 21st November, is the *Youth Presernvation Moisturiser SPF20. And you know I'm interested at the words Youth Preservation right?  Its actually a revamped version of the original, just a higher SPF and a little ingredient update. It's got that beautiful Merumaya signature scent, and that perfect day time cream formula. I love my rich creams, but as my skins changed, I've found myself opting for lighter weight formulas in the am, and this just fits those requirements. Plus it's always good to have an added SPF in the morning. The Youth Preservation moisturiser contains, hyaluronic acid, (our skins hydrator), Matrixyl Synthe-6, Echium oil and Crambe oil, all to smooth, rebuild and preserve the youth, shall we say. Echium oil is also an anti inflammatory so could be good for more sensitive or spot prone skin. As well as the SPF, there's also antioxidants, (which I need a lot of living in London), including Mangosteen extract, Baobab, and Vitamin E.

The second product, (launching January 20th 2017) is the Retinol Resurfacing Treatment. Aimed more at ageing concerned with pigmentation changes, acne scarring and just anyone looking for a beautiful skin boost. Most of you probably have heard of Retinol, it's a key ingredient in a lot of resurfacing products, it is the Vitamin A (Retinol) that boosts cell turnover, improving the appearance of the skin. For me, I tend to go for resurfacing products, to boost the radiance in my skin, even the tone, and get a bit of a natural glow back in to it. I'm still using the Merumaya Gentle Exfoliator which helps to regenerate and resurface my skin, which could be a good starter product or partner for this one.

Because Retinol is quite a strong ingredient, Merumaya have used Vitamin A Palmitate, a more stable version, and included Aroleat Samphira to help even out the skin tone as well as smooth out lines and wrinkles. There's also some more of our skins hydrator, hyaluronic acid, Mediacalm to smooth, Matrixyl 3000 to repair and Squalane to support and reinforce the skins natural moisture barrier.

My skin can be sensitive at times, and I have had no problems using the Retinol Resurfacing Treatment, but I would always be slightly cautious when using this type of product on certain skin types, such as acne prone skin. It's definitely a product for maturer skin types, and as always I recommend using an SPF daily. As there's no point in correcting if you ain't protecting the skin either. I haven't noticed any drastic changes in my skin tone, but as I said, I use these types of products more like a skin booster. And you can't beat that Merumaya scent.

Have you tried a Merumaya before? What skincare changes have you made recently?

Lots of love,
